The event will focus on a recent expose of corruption by Global Witness.

A Global Witness investigator, assigned to act as a lawyer representing a minister from a West African country, sought legal advice from several U.S. lawyers about investing millions of dollars into the United States, while keeping the minister’s identity hidden.

What transpired was secretly recorded and aired in late February on a CBS 60 Minutes episode called “Anonymous, Inc.”

The panel will discuss the legal and ethical implications of the scenario as well as other issues relating to the role of the lawyer in stopping international corruption.

Members of the panel include — Homer Moyer, Jr., of Miller & Chevalier in Washington, D.C. Tara Giunta of Paul Hastings in Washington, D.C., and Professor Peter Margulies of the Roger Williams University School of Law.

The panel will be chaired by Assistant Dean Jessica Tillipman of The George Washington University Law School.
