Former Credit Suisse Trader Joins Better Markets

Caitlin Kline, a former derivatives trader for Credit Suisse, has joined the nonprofit Better Markets.

Kline worked as a flow and structured credit derivatives trader in Credit Suisse’s Emerging Markets Group for five years until 2011.

Prior to that, she was an analyst with Credit Suisse’s Fixed Income Index and Analytics Group.

Since 2011, Kline has been a financial reform advocate. Better Markets now has 12 staff in Washington, DC, where it is based, Senior Fellow Robert Jenkins based in London and staff in Brussels.

“Caitlin Kline, a former derivatives trader, left Wall Street to join the fight to re-regulate Wall Street and end the threat that too-big-to-fail mega-firms pose to Main Street,” said Better Markets CEO Dennis Kelleher.

“We are pleased to welcome her to Better Markets, where she will continue the fight she began with Occupy Wall Street and Occupy the SEC. She is extremely knowledgeable about not only how derivatives markets operate but also the many ways in which the biggest banks dominate, control and manipulate those markets,” said Dennis Kelleher, President and CEO of Better Markets, a nonprofit organization that promotes the public interest in the financial markets.”

“Since leaving Wall Street in 2011, Ms. Kline has provided expert guidance to Congressional committees grappling with derivatives regulation and market practice. She has drafted comment letters on new financial reform rules proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission. Ms. Kline has also been a leading voice in advocating for a strong Volcker Rule. Her work has been featured in Frontline’s Emmy-winning documentary ‘Money, Power & Wall Street,’ about the global financial crisis. At Better Markets, Ms. Kline’s expertise and experience will be major assets in the fight for strong, common sense and long-overdue reform of the U.S. and global financial markets.”
